Quickest Way to Get Rid of a Cold Sore

1Once you feel the lip tingling and tiredness, it’s time to do something. These symptoms appear a few days before a cold sore sprouts on your lips,.

If you are like most people, you want the quickest way to get rid of a cold sore, and one that isn’t caustic to your tissues.

Traditional medicine might have you believe that when something happens to a body part and you don’t know what to do, cut it out. For example, cancer treatments burn out the cancer (and the rest of the body) and also include cutting it out. Still, in many cases, this treatment doesn’t work.

Cutting off your lip might be the quickest way to get rid of a cold sore but it defies common sense. Who would dream of cutting off a lip just because you are bothered by another cold sore outbreak?

The Real Problem Behind Cold Sores

The problem with cold sores is that the Herpes virus that causes them can remain dormant in the tissues. This means that the virus sits around waiting for your body to become rundown, and when that happens, presto! The ugly cold sore appears and brings along its misery.

The key is to prevent these outbreaks from becoming a life-long plague. Thus, you are going to have to do something, and act quickly.

Choose the Quickest Way to Get Rid of a Cold Sore for You

The top three quickest ways that I have found to get rid of a cold sore are:

1. Alcohol

Alcohol wipes are used for a reason in hospitals and other places where sanitation is important. Alcohol kills viruses as well as other microbes, and it does it instantly.

A swab or dab of alcohol on a budding cold sore will thus sanitize the tissues from the virus. You may have to repeat this a few times in the first 8 hours just to make sure you conquered the emerging viruses.

2.  High Doses of Cat’s Claw

Scientists have been searching for nature’s solutions to many diseases for centuries. The good news is that they do exist. And in fact, there are several of them.

Cat’s claw isn’t the claw of a cat so you don’t have to worry about going through the process of taking your kitty’s claws. Let’s get that straight in the beginning.

Cat’s Claw, also called Uncaria tomentosa in Latin, is one plant that originates from the rainforests that is very specific against the Herpes virus. In just two hours, this plant can raise the number and activity of white blood cells by 33%. That’s what scientists say in their reports.

Now to use this natural remedy, it’s best to try out the herb at least a few times before you get a cold sore outbreak. This way you know you aren’t allergic to it.

The bottle of Cat’s Claw capsules will say to take 1 to 2 capsules daily, or as directed by your health practitioner. They’re being cautious. When your immune system is boosted 33% in two hours by 500 mg, then it’s important to keep us the activity.

If you aren’t allergic to the plant – and not very many people are – then taking one to two capsules every few hours will be the quickest way to get rid of a cold sore.

3. Mint and/or Lemon Balm Could Also Work

When you’re looking at other natural solutions for cold sores that actually work because they contain ingredients that conquer the virus, you can include mint and lemon balm into your menagerie of remedies.

It is important to have a few remedies, not just one. For example, let’s say you were on vacation on a deserted island and the ugly cold sore rears its head. What will you do? You probably cannot get any isopropyl alcohol anywhere.

You might not be able to find Cat’s Claw either.

But mint is pretty widely available in grocery stores in the produce section. Grab a few bunches of it and start eating it or making tea out of a handful of leaves. Eat the leaves all day long and/or make tea several times in a day. Mint is antiviral, just as Lemon Balm is, and specific against the Herpes virus.

Do the same thing with Lemon Balm that you did with Mint. Eat it or make a tea out of it. By the way, when you make a tea of it, all you do is drop a teaspoon or two of the leaves in a cup of boiling water, mix and wait for it to cool down. Then drink it.

Always a Word of Caution

But remember that the longer you wait to use any of these remedies, the more you postpone your healing. You must stay vigilant! Tingling in your lip? Feeling a little fatigued as well? Start the remedies and don’t wait.

Any microbial infection is always more difficult to treat the more it becomes established. Give yourself no excuses and just do it. You’ll be happy that you did.

And then write and tell me about which remedy became the quickest way to get rid of a cold sore for you.
